There is no definitive genre to describe Spindle’s music. With subtle intricacy, Spindle boldly spins together elements of alternative rock and electronica, sprinkled with touches of jazzy trip-hop and carnival tunes. Many people find themselves befuddled when trying to categorize Spindle’s music.
Spindle emerged from the backdrop of Maui, Hawaii...the tropical origin of founding members Gina Wong (vocals, guitar, piano, synths) and Amber Blahnik (drums, percussion). The girls consider Spindle to be much more than a band...it's a long-standing concept which was originally formulated by Gina in 1997, the year she first began writing songs under the name. The band was officially formed in 1999, the year she and Amber met in high school. Spindle relocated to Bellingham, Washington in 2004, where they discovered Tammy Lee (bass, vocals); the crucial part in completing the trio’s lineup.
Whether you’re aching for songs about lost love and hopeful desires, reminiscing about past promises and mistaken regrets, burning with political distaste, or in the mood for pulsating melodies that make you wanna dance... Spindle crafts a variety of tunes to please a diversity of fans.
Currently, Spindle is vigorously writing material for their new album. They plan on entering the recording studio within a few months. In the meantime, you can hear b-sides, live recordings and cover songs on this site, as well as on their official MySpace page (myspace.com/spindleband) where they will also announce upcoming shows.
